Creativity can feel like a stroke of genius that only some are capable of grabbing. But what if you could use science to become more creative?
It turns our researchers have found that it is possible to spark creativity by using science-backed methods. This article will dive into a few methods that you can use immediately to spark your creativity.
1. Exercise
This has been widely documented, but exercise is good for sparking creativity. According to research from Frontiers in Human Neuroscience, those who exercised 4X a week experienced longer and more frequent periods of creativity than those with a sedative lifestyle.
2. Meditation
When it comes to meditating, according to the Harvard Business Review, as little as 10 to 12 minutes are enough to boost creativity for the rest of your day. If you’re looking for a place to get started, we’d recommend using an app such as Headspace or Calm.
3. Dim the lights
Recent studies published in the Journal of Environmental Psychology showed that dimming lights could positively affect creativity as it pushes our minds into an exploratory mode. This one is probably the easiest thing you can do to push your creativity forward.
4. Set a time for creativity
Set a specific time to work on creative endeavors. Similar to training any other muscle, you have to train your brain to be creative. We recommend blocking out time on your calendar at a set time every day or week to work on creative tasks.
