Instagram Introduces Recommended Stories in the Explore Tab
It’s almost hard to keep up with the changes happening at Instagram. First, we saw new business profiles introduced. This move allowed business owners and brands to advertise directly within the platform and set up custom contact buttons. Next, Instagram Stories were integrated into the app. This was almost a complete duplication of Snapchat’s Stories, giving users the ability to post ephemeral content that disappears after 24-hours.
Now, we’re seeing the slow-rolling out of a new feature – recommended Stories. Instagram has added recommended Stories into the Explore tab for a number of users, as confirmed in an email to Social Times.
“We’re excited to bring Stories to Explore in the coming weeks. Explore is where people go to discover new accounts to follow and content to enjoy. It’s a great surface to highlight all amazing stories that people are creating.”
This new feature is going to be monitored closely by Instagram, with the hope that it increases user engagement with Stories, and introduces Instagrammers to new users to follow. While we’re still awaiting a full rollout, users can expect to see their explore tab looking like the image below in the coming weeks.
